Wires for locomotives are intended for the fixed installation and installation with limited mobility in locomotives and other units of a rolling stock on rated voltage to 380 V with a frequency up to 2000 Hz or constant tension to 700 V at a temperature from minus 50 °C to plus 70 °C.

PVLT-1 - a wire with a copper vein in utonenny isolation PVC, in the varnished braid for locomotives;
PVLTE-1 - a wire with a copper vein in utonenny isolation PVC, in the varnished braid, screened;
PVLTT-1-a wire with a copper vein in utonenny isolation PVC, in the varnished braid, heatresistant, screened for locomotives;
PVLTTE-1 - a wire with a copper vein in utonenny isolation PVC, in the varnished braid, screened for locomotives heatresistant.
CONDUCTING VEIN - copper a wire.
ISOLATION - PVC plastic compound. For wires of the PVLT and PVLTE brands - PVC plastic compound of yellow color; blue and blue flowers - wires of the PVLT-1 and PVLTE-1 brands, PVC plastic compound of any color other than the wires of the PVLTT-1 and PVLTTE-1 brands stated above.
BRAID - x / a yarn or twisted x / a yarn and synthetic threads in the ratio 1:1. Braid density coefficient not less than 90%. The braid is impregnated with an ethylcellulose or nitrocellulose varnish. For a complete set of locomotives and for Ministry of Railways wires of the PVLTT-1, PVLTTE-1 brands are delivered with a braid from x / a yarn.
The SCREEN - copper a wire with a diameter from 0,12 mm to 0,26 mm, tinned tin or tin-lead solder with the content of tin not less than 40%. Coefficient of area density of the shielding braid not less than 70%.
SECTION of VEINS, mm ² - 0,35 - 95.
The number of veins, nominal section of veins, nominal thickness of isolation, the maximum outer diameter of wires have to correspond specified in the table:

Wires with a section up to 2,5 mm2 can be made two - and three-vein.
Electric resistance of isolation on length of 1 km at a temperature of 20 °C:
- not less than 500 megohms for wires with a section up to 2,5 mm ²
- 10 megohms for wires with a section from 4,0 mm ² above.
Range of working temperatures:
for wires of the PVLT-1 and PVLTE-1 brands from minus 60 °C to plus 70 °C;
for wires of the PVLTT-1 and PVLTTE-1 brands from minus 60 °C to plus 90 °C;
It is long the admissible temperature of heating of veins not has to exceed 70 °C.
Wires are low-combustible.
The term of safety of cables at storage in the enclosed space not less than 5 years. Wires are operated in the conditions of influence of various percussions and vibration loadings, meet the requirements of the increased resistance to excesses, attrition and breakdown. They are steady against sunlight, atmospheric condensate, static dust, mold mushrooms, against influence of gasoline, hydraulic liquid, kerosene, mineral oil, salty water.Average service life - 15 years.
